Alfreton Town face Kettering Town tomorrow afternoon in a massive National League North clash at the Impact Arena, kick off is 3pm behind closed doors.
Fixtures at the Impact Arena also remain behind closed doors due to Derbyshire's placement into tier 3 following the two weekly review this week and as instructed by government guidelines and protocols. However we hope to welcome our supporters back to the Impact Arena and back on the road as soon as possible and as soon as government guidelines will allow to do so.
The Reds were beaten for the seventh time in 14 league games at Boston on Saturday afternoon. Despite defending well for good periods, the hosts always looked as if they would break the deadlock and eventually the pressure told when Leesley looped a header into the far corner on 44.
Despite half chances for Adam Lund with a header and Luke Rawson who dragged a shot wide, ex Red Tom Platt fired a low shot into the corner on 52 to give Boston a cushion. Jake Day would be brought down inside the box to give Alfreton a penalty but the Reds forward would only blast the spot kick against the bar on 69.
It was another game that went away from the Reds as the Pilgrims claimed a deserved win and in turn continued our struggles in the league. Attention now turns to tomorrow's seemingly crucial encounter with the Poppies.
Alfreton will be desperate to find form and in turn grab an elusive win, the Reds have had good performances and unlucky performances but have not had the points to show.
We head into tomorrow's game win-less in our last seven league games and eight in all competitions. The Reds have won just twice in 14 league games with one win at the Impact and one win away from home this season.
Our seven league defeats is only beaten by Curzon with eight and Blyth with nine.
Alfreton have won just once at the Impact in six league outings. We will be looking for our third win of the season with our last win coming against Farsley 3-1 on the 14th November.
Visitors Kettering sit in 19th place in the league table with 12 points from 11 matches played. They are a point and a place above us but they do have three games in hand.
Their current playing record stands at: P11, W3, D3, L5.
The Poppies were not in action on Saturday after a postponement at Latimer Park due to a waterlogged pitch. However their last outing saw them progress in the FA Trophy to the fourth round with a 2-1 win at Ashton United on 19/12.
Kettering are unbeaten in their last three games in all competitions (W2, D1), including two straight wins in the FA Trophy. They have tasted defeat just once in their last eight. League form has seen just one defeat (York 2-0) in their last six.
AWAY FORM: The visitors have won two of their last three on the road in all competitions, but have only won once away from home in the league this season.
2005: Alfreton's last win over Kettering came in the FA Trophy back in 2005 (2-1). Since then the last six meetings at the Impact has seen three Poppies wins and three draws.
