Alfreton Town return to National League North action tomorrow night as we face 10th placed Chester at the Deva Stadium, kick off is 7.45pm behind closed doors.
The Reds have had a weekend without a fixture following Saturday's game at Southport being moved due to the Liverpool city region being placed into tier 2, following the Government's tier system announcement after the national lockdown. The game was scheduled for Saturday 28th November but has now been moved to Saturday 5th December.
Alfreton's last outing came nearly a week ago, on Tuesday 24th November as we fell to a 3-0 defeat at Kidderminster, it was our third league defeat in a row as the Reds form has slid in the last three games.
We were hit by a Cliff Moyo header from a corner on 27 minutes at Aggborough as he headed into the bottom corner. Ashley Hemmings then added a second half brace with a far post header and then a 20 yard finish into an empty net to leave the Reds in a real struggle for form. We huffed and puffed in stages but we never created clear cut openings, the Harriers attacking quality shone through and they ran out deserved winners.
The Reds head into tomorrow's game having lost the last three league games, with the last two seeing us fail to find the net. We have won just once in the last six and registered just two wins from the opening ten league games.
Away form has seen us lose our last three on the road (Bradford PA, Leamington, Kidderminster). Our only away win in the league so far came at Telford at the end of October (0-1).
Hosts Chester find themselves in 10th in the league table with 11 points from eight games. They are two points above us but have two games in hand.
Their current playing record stands at: P8, W3, D2, L3.
The Seals will be looking to propel themselves back into the play off positions tomorrow evening as they look to get back to winning ways at the Deva following a 2-1 home defeat by Gateshead on Saturday.
Chester are win-less in their last four league games (L2, D2), with their last win coming over Curzon Ashton 2-1, on the 27th October.
Home form has seen the Seals only lose twice this season and only once in the league which came against Gateshead on Saturday. They will be aiming for a third win in four at the Deva in the National League North.
AN UNHAPPY PLACE: The Reds will be looking to avoid a fourth straight defeat at Chester after a 3-0 loss in 2019, 3-2 in 2018 and 2-1 in 2014.
