Alfreton Town head to the Community Stadium on Tuesday night as the fixtures come thick and fast in the National League North. Kick off is 7.45pm as the Reds look for a second straight win behind closed doors.
The ongoing saga of allowing supporters into stadiums at non league level has stretched on with the Reds considered as 'Elite', all of our league fixtures will be played behind closed doors as instructed by government guidelines and protocols. However we hope to welcome our supporters back to the Impact Arena and back on the road as soon as possible and as soon as government guidelines will allow to do so.
Alfreton produced a fantastic display on Saturday to get back to winning ways with a 3-1 win over Farsley Celtic. It was our second league win of the season as James Jones struck with a flicked header into the bottom corner from Dan Bradley's corner. We were pegged back a few minutes later with Adam Clayton stabbing home from a few yards after a spillage from George Willis.
However the Reds responded well and hit back with goals from Elliott Reeves who twisted and turned before firing into the bottom corner via a deflection. Jake Day then capitalised on a half clearance inside the box to fire low into the bottom corner. It was the perfect response from the lads to two straight defeats prior with Alfreton seeing the game out in the second period.
We head into tomorrow's fixture looking to for a second straight win, Saturday's 3-1 success was the first time the Reds have scored more than one goal in a league game this season.
Alfreton have only lost once on the road in the National League North (Bradford PA 2-0), we have drawn at Curzon (1-1) and won at Telford (0-1) in our other two away trips.
Leamington currently sit 21st in the league table with two points from four games, they are seven points behind us with three games in hand.
Their current playing record stands at: P4, W0, D2, L2.
The Brakes last fixture was a 1-1 draw at Kidderminster back on the 7th November. They come into the contest on the back of two straight draws, however the hosts have only played four league games and are still looking for their first league win. Leamington have yet to win a game this season in all competitions (L3, D2).
The Brakes will be aiming to avoid a third straight defeat at home in all competitions.
A CLEAN SHEET HAT-TRICK?: Alfreton will be aiming for a third straight win against Leamington and a third straight clean sheet. The Reds won both meetings last season 1-0.
