Alfreton Town head to the Brewery Field tomorrow afternoon as two of the division's form sides clash in the National League North, kick off is 3pm.
Tomorrow brings together the sides sitting in third and fourth in the form table over the last five fixtures. The Reds really have hit a good patch in form and are unbeaten in the last four league games, winning three.
Our last outing saw a 1-0 win over Leamington on Tuesday night in a game which we dominated from start to finish. The Brakes goalkeeper was sent off with a straight red for a foul on Danny Elliott with just seven minutes gone. We pressed and pressed throughout the half with Amari Morgan-Smith, Bobby Johnson, Josh Wilde and Danny Clarke all testing the replacement goalie, Callum Gittings who was withdrawn from his outfield duties.
Just when frustration appeared to be creeping in, Conor Branson came up with the goods on 63, finishing low into the bottom corner after combining well with Bobby. Alfreton kept their composure under difficult circumstances and found a way through crucially which showed plenty of character and maturity.
We were well worthy of the points and in turn moved to 13th in the league, we head to Spenny tomorrow looking to extend our unbeaten run to five. We will also be aiming for a fourth win in five and close in on the chasing pack for the play offs.
Away form has seen recent struggle with just one win in our last seven away from home in all competitions.
Spennymoor currently sit in 8th place in the league table with 48 points from 30 games, they are outside the play-offs on goal difference and sit eight points and five places above us.
Their current playing record stands at: P30, W13, D9, L8.
Following a month of progression after a tricky start to 2020, Spennymoor have collected 11 points from their previous five games to pull themselves into the play off picture. They are just three points behind fifth placed Altrincham.
Three points for the hosts tomorrow will do them further good in their promotion ambitions and dent the Reds loose play off hopes.
Moors are unbeaten in their last five, winning three; with their home form imperious seeing just two defeats in their last 14 at Brewery Field.
