Alfreton Town return to the Impact Arena tomorrow aiming for back to back league wins after Tuesday's romping victory over Gloucester. Hereford present the next challenge in the National League North, kick off is 3pm.
Saturday’s events presented one of the toughest and most emotional days for the club and the support shown by all and within the footballing community has been overwhelming. The Reds produced the best tribute imaginable, hammering Gloucester 6-1 on Tuesday following an impeccable minutes silence for Jordan and a wonderful amount raised through our bucket collection.
There will be a second bucket collection tomorrow afternoon for Reds fans who couldn't attend Tuesday's game and also for Hereford fans to contribute to this fund for a fantastic cause.
New loan signing Danny Elliott lit up the Impact Arena on Tuesday night, grabbing a hat-trick, his first on 12 was a ice cool finish under the goalkeeper after a ball forward was mid-judged by the Gloucester defence. McClure then equalised after he found space on the edge of the box before finishing into the bottom corner.
Amari reacted just a minute later, Bobby Johnson playing the Reds forward through in the box and he struck the ball into the near corner to restore the lead. Danny would get his second as he latched onto Danny Clarke's forward pass before nipping the ball past the goalie and into the empty net.
Alfreton added three more in the second half, Bobby's free kick sailed all the way through to the far corner as Jeacock spilled the ball, Danny completed his hat-trick, showing great strength and finishing the ball under Jeacock clinically once again. We completed the scoring with Bobby's glancing header in the box which went into the bottom corner.
It was the perfect tribute from the Reds who produced their best performance of the season and will look to keep this going tomorrow. The Reds will be looking for back to back league wins and to start picking some form up at this stage of the season, we have won just two of our last 12 games in all competitions.
We are unbeaten in our last three league games at the Impact (W1, D2) and we'll be looking to extend this unbeaten home run to four tomorrow.
Visitors Hereford arrive sitting in 16th in the league table, they have 30 points from 27 games. They are three points and two places below us.
Their current playing record stands at: P27, W7, D9, L11.
The Bulls parted company with Russell Slade just 11 days ago and have former Reds player Josh Gowling as their player/interim manager. They battled to a 1-1 draw with Curzon in their last outing, their second draw in succession in the league.
The Bulls have won just one of their last 19 games in all competitions (Kidderminster 2-1 in January), they have won just twice in their last 16 league games. Their last away win in the NLN came at Leamington on the 1st October, Hereford are win-less in their last nine away games in all competitions and they'll be looking to avoid a fifth straight league defeat tomorrow.
