Alfreton Town return to the Impact Arena tomorrow afternoon in a quick turn-around from Saturday’s draw with leaders Kings Lynn, when we host Telford United looking to build on positive point and kick off 2020. Kick off is 3pm in the National League North.
The Reds had lost five games in a row in all competitions prior to Saturday’s draw but a return to winning ways is a must to prevent Alfreton slipping further down the table and the need to pick up points is key at this stage of the season.
The Reds produced their best display of the season on Saturday as we held the leaders to a 2-2 draw. Amari Morgan-Smith hit a stunning half volley after four minutes to give us the lead, only for Adam Marriott to finish acrobatically a minute later to level the contest.
Seven minutes brought the next goal with Ryan Qualter finishing first time with a low curling effort which found its way into the bottom corner. However despite further chances for both sides and a real determination and a hard-working display, we conceded another leveller with 77 gone when Michael Gash poked home from a rebound.
The Reds will be positive heading into tomorrow’s game after the performance and we’ll look to build on the point gained and pull ourselves back into mid-table.
Alfreton head into the game win-less in the last seven in all competitions. Our last win came at Hereford (1-2) back on the 12th November.
We’ll be aiming to register a win in the league for the first time in five games (D1, L4).
The Reds haven’t won at the Impact in the last seven in all competitions with our last home win coming against Curzon (3-2) on the 7th September.
Visitors Telford currently sit in 12th place in the league table with 29 points from 22 games. They are three points and four places above us.
Their current playing record stands at: P22, W8, D5, L9.
The Bucks have endured a difficult season compared to last season's play-off challenging season and will look for three points to continue their good recent form to push themselves back into the play off mix.
Telford have won their last two league games including the 3-0 reverse against us on Boxing Day before winning at Gloucester (0-1) on Saturday. They’ll be aiming for a third straight league win and a fourth clean sheet in a row.
The Bucks have won three of their last four away games in all competitions, including clean sheets in their last two outings on the road.

The Reds lost at the New Bucks Head on Boxing Day in our last meeting just a week ago. The Bucks led after 18 minutes through an own goal from Ryan Qualter as he looked to prevent a cross. They added a second just before the break as Barnett finished past Wright on the counter. It was three on 69 as Stenson volleyed home from eight yards to seal a comfortable win for Telford and leave the Reds again going home pointless.
