Alfreton Town is pleased to announce that experienced forward Shaun Tuton has agreed to return to the Club for the 2021/22 season.
The 29-year-old joined Billy Heath’s side from Boston United last summer but he has played just three times in a Reds shirt due to an injury he picked up at the start of last term.
Having began his career with Matlock, Belper and Buxton, Tuton’s scoring record in the Northern Premier League earned him a move to FC Halifax Town in August 2015.
He netted 11 goals in 32 matches for the Shaymen and his performances caught the attention of a number of football league clubs.
Tuton eventually signed for Barnsley mid-way through the season for an undisclosed fee, however, he failed to break into the first-team following their promotion to the Championship.
After spending time out on loan to Barrow, Grimsby and back at Halifax, the striker left the Tykes in 2018 to join National League North side Chester.
He has also plied his trade with Spennymoor and Chorley, before his move to Boston. Despite rarely featuring for the Reds, Tuton has gained a wealth of experience throughout his career and will add to Heath’s forward line when he returns for the new season.
