REDS CAPTURE HUNT IN FIRST SIGNING OF THE SUMMER

Buxton Players, Player of the Season award winner agrees to joins the Reds

Alfreton Town manager Billy Heath has been working extremely hard in the transfer market in the close season to bolster a Reds squad full of team spirit and camaraderie.

With this in mind the Reds are delighted to announce the acquisition of centre back Max Hunt from divisional rivals Buxton FC.

Hunt, 25, was born in Chesterfield and began his football journey in the academy of Nottingham Forest. After being released by the Garibaldi, Hunt joined the academy of Matlock Town. Max impressed during his time with the Gladiators and was invited to a trial by EFL side Mansfield Town before deciding to continue in the Academy set up at Causeway Lane.

Ahead of the 2017/18 season Hunt became the first academy graduate to sign a professional contract at Matlock in a decade. Max has played for a plethora of local clubs including Belper Town on loan in 2017 and Derby County after his impressive appearances at Matlock caught the attention of the Rams in January 2018.

While at Pride Park Hunt linked up with the Under 23s set up and enjoyed a loan spell at Aldershot Town where he got his first taste of the National League system. While with the Shots Hunt scored his first goal in a 3-1 defeat to Yeovil Town in September 2019.

After being released by Derby Hunt signed an eighteen month contract with Carlisle United of EFL League Two. in January 2020, the imposing 6 foot 5 centre back made his debut for the Cumbrians in a 1-1 draw with Oldham Athletic. After amassing a total of six appearances for Carlisle across two seasons Hunt was loaned out to Yeovil Town in the National League before his move to the Glovers was made a permanent one. Hunt made 64 appearances for Yeovil over a couple of campaigns he was unfortunately released by the club following their relegation from the National League at the end of the 2022/23 season.

Hunt signed for Buxton at the start of the 2023/24 season as he returned to his home county of Derbyshire and enjoyed a great season finding the net three times and making over 30 appearances across the campaign.
