Alfreton Town travel to Spennymoor Town this Tuesday looking to bounce back after Saturday’s home defeat to Kidderminster Harriers.
Following the defeat The Reds remained in 12th place but now 10 adrift of Hereford who currently occupy the final play-off position. Just two points below and having played a game less than The Reds, is Tuesday’s hosts Spennymoor Town.
Having been drawn against the Moors in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy, this will be a rare fourth battle between the two side in the same season. The Moors have had the edge having won on two of those occasions, the most recent in the FA Trophy when Matty Dolan’s brilliant free-kick sent Graeme Lee’s men through.
Alfreton come into the game off the back of yet another home defeat, extending the unwanted run to five matches. Away from home Alfreton have had more recent joy, and beating Spennymoor would extending a winning streak to five across league and cup.
Spennymoor have just had a double header of home fixtures versus Warrington and Radcliffe postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. Prior to the postponements, the hosts had earned strong league wins against Hereford and Southport either side of bypassing National League side Boston United into the FA Trophy Quarter Finals via a shootout.
Tuesday’s game is not segregated, and fans of both sides are able to buy their tickets from the general sale option in advance online right now. Tickets will also be available via cash or card on the turnstiles ahead of kick-off which will be open from 6.30pm on Tuesday.
