A busy and hectic schedule continues apace for Alfreton Town as they make the short trip to Rushall Olympic tomorrow in National League North for the first ever league meeting between the two sides with kick off at 19.45
The Reds headed in to their last outing against Scarborough Athletic at the Impact Arena on Saturday on a run of four straight victories in all competitions amid a feel good factor at the football club following our FA Cup Exploits. However the Seadogs put in an excellent performance to deservedly beat an offcolour Alfreton as despite Jake Day getting himself on the scoresheet against his former employers, Billy Heath`s men fell to a first Impact Arena defeat since August.
Therefore the Reds will be keen to get back on track tomorrow night against Rushall. However as we enter a difficult set of fixtures each for different reasons ahead of the hugely anticipated visit of Walsall and the BBC Sport Cameras Billy Heath will be eager to ensure it doesnt fall in to a slump in form. After Rushall who play on an artifical pitch which Alfreton have a poor record on they then face Macclesfield at the Impact Arena once more this season with the Silkmen intent on a measure of revenge following an FA Cup defeat earlier this campaign. Following ,that Chester visit Derbyshire with the Seals also proving a tough nut to crack regardless of form or circumstances. The final match before the showdown with Walsall sees experienced National League North campaigners Brackley Town visit the Impact on November 25th.
Rushall Olympic who are competing in their debut National League North season after winning the Southern League Premier Division Central play offs last season are gradually beginning to find their feet. The Pics still occupy one of the relegation places ahead of the game but have picked up a few eye catching results including a 5-0 home win over Chorley recently.
Rushall striker Danny Waldron is the National League North top scorer with 13 goals and the ex Leamington striker has scored in each of his last six appearances for the Pics.
The two teams have crossed paths once before in an Extra Prelimnary tie in the FA Cup in the 1990/91 season. After a 2-2 draw at North Street Rushall convincing won the replay 3-0 after a poor Alfreton performance to advance through to the next round.
The fixture also sees the two longest serving managers in the division go head to head with Liam McDonald having taken the Rushall post in 2017 a year before Billy Heath.
