PREVIEW | Chorley v Alfreton Town

PREVIEW | Chorley v Alfreton Town

Towerzey Lisa29 Jan 2024 - 20:35

Reds on the road once again tomorrow night

Alfreton Town lock horns with Chorley for the second time in the month of January when they travel to Victory Park on Tuesday night for a fourth straight away game in National League.

The Reds have been in fine form of late and are looking to complete a superb unbeaten January by avoiding defeat tomorrow night.

Last time out Alfreton emerged from Haig Avenue with an unlikely win as two goals in a three minute spell near the end of the 90 from substitute Jake Day and debut hero Gerry Mc Donagh overturned a deficit. The inform Liam Waldock had struck yet again to hand the Reds the lead after 12 minutes but some below par defending from Ofton allowed the home side to take a 2-1 lead in to the half time interval.
Billy Heath`s displayed trademark never say abilities however to fight back in to the second half to record a first league double over the Sandgrounders since the 2014/15 season.

The Reds six match unbeaten sees they sit third in the form guide and eighth in the league table just a single point from the play off places with three games in hand on most teams and up to four on Scarborough.

Chorley, who were beaten 2-0 at the Impact Arena back on January 6th thanks to goals from George Cantrill and Liam Waldock, sit in 10th two points below the Reds but crucially they have played 27 matches the same as the Reds.

This will be Chorley`s third successive home match. Last Tuesday they were beaten 2-0 by Chester and on Saturday Farsley Celtic who having a very solid season in mid table emerged with a 1-1 draw.
