PREVIEW | Alfreton Town v South Shields FC

Reds host Mariners looking to stretch unbeaten run to five games

Alfreton Town are back in home comforts on Saturday when South Shields visit the Impact Arena for the very first time in National League North.

Following the freezing temperatures this week our scheduled visit to Spennymoor Town on Tuesday was postponed meaning we are still yet to have our first meeting with the Moors this season.

That means the Reds are still waiting to put the disappointment of surrendering a two goal lead at Warrington in the final minutes last weekend out of the system.

Billy Heath`s side are still in a strong position in the league table lying in eighth position and know a fourth successive home league win will likely move them in to the play off positions depending on other results.

Since our first meeting with South Shields on the opening day which saw the Mariners win 3-1 things are much different for our opponents on Saturday.
A strong start saw them as high as third place after the first few months of the season but a slump in form in recent weeks which has seen Julio Arca lose his managerial job.
Indeed Shield`s have only won 2 of their last 10 matches in the league which as seen the newly promoted side drop to 11th in the league table and completely out of the play off places

Therefore Ofton will be eager to target this fixture as an opportunity to continue a strong vein of form since Christmas ahead of a tough run of three successive away games against Peterborough Sports, Southport and Chorley.

Parking at the Impact Arena is incredibly limited. We recommend
the pay and display parking on Rogers Lane, DE55 7FF and also at Severn Square, DE55 7BT - both are a five to ten minute walk to and from the Impact Arena.

Please be considerate of residents on the estate next to the arena, particularly Connaught Court, Bentley Close and North Street. We ask supporters to avoid parking in the residential areas around the ground and instead ask that you follow the advice and park in the pay and display car parks
