Nightmare on bonfire night for Alfreton as late Gyasi hattrick earns Peterborough Sports all 3 points as Reds slip to third defeat in last four outings in all competitions
Michael Gyasi who only came on 80 minutes into the fixture made the most of his cameo scoring a hattrick, the first of which a real wonder goal of a volley into the top right corner on 84 minutes
Gyasi followed up with his second, rounding the keeper and scoring into an empty net after a over the top ball left goalkeeper George Willis in no man's land, he completed his hattrick scoring a penalty which he had won himself.
Alfreton started and for large portions of the game were the better side especially during the first half where Peterborough Sports barely had a shot.
It all started after just 27 seconds when Liam Waldock found some space in the box and struck the post with his effort.
This early chance really set the away side up for a first half of dominance, which Jake Day took advantage of scoring a fantastic strike from 20 yards into the bottom right corner, after the ball fell loose to him on the edge of the box.
The sides went in at half time with the scores at 0 - 1, a scoreline which well depicted the flow of the first half.
The second half was all the same with neither side being able to create anything substantial, that was the case until in the 80th minute when Michael Gyasi came on.
He scored his first of three only six minutes after his introduction, a wonderful first time full volley into the top right corner, what at the time felt like an underserved equaliser, it rapidly turned the tide of the game.
Five minutes later in the first minute of six added minutes of stoppage time Gyasi double his tally for the night when he latched onto a long ball over the top of the Alfreton defence, rounded Willis and rolled it into the open net.
Gyasi finished off his perfect night when he broke free of the Alfreton back line once again forcing Adam Anson to bring him down in the box, giving Sports a penalty.
A penalty which Gyasi himself would take and send Willis the wrong way completing his 15 minute hattrick.
That is how the game finished and it will be a game Alfreton will be furious with the outcome of as they looked so comfortable for 80 minutes, but a super substitution unravelled all their hard work.
