Alfreton Town cruised through to the quarter-finals of the Derbyshire Senior Cup when they demolished neighbours Ilkeston Town on Tuesday night at the Impact Arena.
The Robins had started the brighter with Chris O'Grady and Reco Fyfe both going close, but a moment of sheer brilliance from Bailey Hobson gave Alfreton a 36th min lead.
Having ridden a tackle just over the halfway line Hobson ran on to fire past keeper Saul Deeney from 25 yards, but Ilkeston responded through Tyree Wilson just six minutes later with a left-footed drive from the edge of the area.
As the first half entered stoppage time a deft flick from Tom Denton regained the Reds advantage when he converted a Danny Preston free-kick at the back post.
Alfreton ran riot after the break, adding a third goal on 59 minutes when defender Jay McGrath tucked Preston's flag-kick inside the near post from close range.
Just two minutes later Milan Butterfield celebrated with the Reds' fourth goal with a well-struck finish after Preston had laid back Hobson's deep cross.
Dayle Southwell made it a trio of goals for Alfreton inside a six-minute spell when he headed home virtually on the goal-line after Denton had headed on another accurate Preston corner.
The scoring was completed ten minutes from time when Denton headed home from an Adam Lund delivery.
