Reds to head south for first ever meeting with Hoops

Alfreton Town are set to resume their National League North programme on Tuesday night when they make the long journey south to face Oxford City for the very first time in their history.
This is a rearranged fixture after the original match was moved following Alfreton`s progression in the FA Cup earlier in the season.
Both teams head into the clash on the back of a win in the FA Trophy.

Billy Heath`s men defeated Needham Market 3-2 with Josh Clackstone chipping in with a rare goal alongside Lewis Salmon and form horse Liam Waldock who struck for the seventh time this season taking him level with Jed Abbey on the top scorer charts.
Progression was even more comfortable for Oxford City who thrashed Sporting Khalsa 5-0 at home.

Oxford are the first club to ever participate in all three National League Divisions (National League South, National League, National League North in consecutive seasons. However this is not Oxford`s first foray in to the Northern division at Step 2 having participated in the league between 2012/13 and 2014/15.

Following relegation from the National League last term Oxford City nicknamed the Hoops have found it tough going. After Ross Jenkins left to take the job at Boreham Wood Oxford appointed Sam Cox to the managers job, Cox was sacked in September after a poor start to the season - Jenkin`s soon returned to the hot seat after he left Boreham Wood.

Jenkin`s re appointment to the role has seen an improvement in results though with City suffering just two defeats in nine games since his return.

Oxford City were formed way back in 1882 and currently sit in 19th place in the league table level on points with Warrington have won 4 drawn 6 and lost 6.
City have scored the most goals of any team in the bottom half (23) so are not to be underestimated.
A victory on Tuesday night would lift Alfreton to fifth in the table but Reds manager Billy Heath will need to check on the fitness of first choice goalkeeper George Willis who missed a rare game in the FA Trophy win over Needham Market with Jake Askew stepping up in his absence.
