MATCH PREVIEW: Alfreton Town v South Shields

MATCH PREVIEW: Alfreton Town v South Shields

Towerzey Lisa25 Nov - 19:25

Reds welcome Mariners to Impact Arena on Tuesday night looking to keep promotion hopes on track

After Saturday`s fixture against Brackley Town was postponed Alfreton Town look to return to league action at the Impact Arena tomorrow evening when South Shields make the long journey from the North East to Derbyshire for Ofton`s 17th league outing of the season.
Billy Heath`s men slipped to seventh in the league table, the final play off spot following their inaction on Saturday. With Chorley`s defeat at Chester the Reds are still only three points off the summit as the National League North continues to be extremely tight.

After an impressive debut season last campaign which saw Shields narrowly miss out on the play offs its been much more tough going this time around. The Mariners arrive in DE55 on the back of a morale boosting 5-1 demolition of struggling Farsley Celtic at the One Cloud Arena on Saturday. This win lifted Elliott Dickman`s side to the top half in 12th place but it has been an indifferent season to date for Shields with them having won 8 drew 1 and lost 9 of their league games to date. This includes a 3-0 defeat at bottom of the table Needham Market earlier in the campaign.

Alfreton Town have only lost one game in over a calendar year at the Impact Arena. The corresponding fixture last season against Shields was a crucial hard fought 1-0 success secured thanks to a Jordan Thewlis winner.
The Reds will be keen to not underestimate their full time opponents with Shields boosting the dangerous Paul Blackett and Kyle Crossley in attack.

The fixture sees Jed Abbey line up against his former employers following his summer switch to the Reds and Abbey is now joined at the top of the goal scoring charts by Liam Waldock with the pair locked on seven goals, Jake Day on Five and Billy Fewster on Four.

Parking at the Impact Arena is incredibly limited. We recommend
the pay and display parking on Rogers Lane, DE55 7FF and also at Severn Square, DE55 7BT - both are a five to ten minute walk to and from the Impact Arena.

Please be considerate of residents on the estate next to the arena, particularly Connaught Court, Bentley Close and North Street. We ask supporters to avoid parking in the residential areas around the ground and instead ask that you follow the advice and park in the pay and display car parks
