Alfreton Town`s wait for a league win has now stretched to over seven wins after the latest 2-0 reverse on Saturday against play off chasers Chorley.
On Non League Day in front of a healthy crowd of 1697 at Victory Park Billy Heath`s men paid the price for a poor start. Mike Caveley gave the Magpies the lead after just 70 seconds following lackadaisical defending from a corner. Mike Caveley had his and Chorley second of the afternoon with barely twenty minutes played leaving Alfreton with a mountain to climb.
Alfreton`s playing and management staff were furious at what they saw was a clear handball in the build up to the second half, an incident that eventually saw Billy Heath given a straight red card.
After a below par opening 45 Ofton got to work looking for an avenue back in to the contest. They were perhaps a shade unlucky not to at least get on the scoresheet and force a nervous finish for the vocal home ground. Max Hunt hit the post and Dwayne Wiley the crossbar while Jed Abbey saw a good header expertly saved by Matt Urwin in the Chorley goal.
Indeed, Alfreton ended the contest the better of the two sides and will be looking to take that in to tomorrow night's game.
Leamington FC who are safe in midtable provide the opposition tomorrow night.
They are managed by the only manager in the league in post longer than Billy Heath - the excellent Paul Holleran.
Newly promoted to the level after winning the play offs in the Southern League Central last season Holleran who has a proven track record of good management on a low budget has delivered once again as a win for the Brakes on Tuesday will set a record National League North points tally for the Warwickshire side.
This isnt Leamington`s first visit to DE55 this season as their away fixture against Farsley Celtic was played at the Impact Arena back in September as Brakes won 2-0.
Leamington`s season has been helped in non small part by the goals of Callum Stewart who they sold to League One Shrewsbury in January.
This fixture is a game on hand on Needham Market in the relegation places and a rare win for the Reds could all but secure safety with six games left to play.

Please be considerate of residents on the estate next to the arena, particularly Connaught Court, Bentley Close and North Street. We ask supporters to avoid parking in the residential areas around the ground and instead ask that you follow the advice and park in the pay and display car parks.
