Match Preview - Alfreton Town v Gloucester City FC

Reds host the tigers on Saturday looking to get back in to the play-offs

Alfreton Town will take to the home turf of the Impact Arena on Saturday for the first time in three weeks when they host Gloucester City in the National League North with a 3pm kick off.
The Reds head into the game in a good vein of form after returning to winning ways in the league last time out with a gritty and determined performance earning a 2-1 win at Curzon Ashton thanks to goals inside the opening 60 seconds of each half from Hobson and Hackford.
After catching the eye on debut at Curzon Sheffield United loanee Antwoine Hackford is set to make his home debut for the Reds alongside young starlet Bailey Hobson who has 4 goals in his last 2 appearances to take his tally to 9 for the campaign in all competitions. Billy Heath will also check the fitness of a number of players ahead of the clash including experienced striker Matt Rhead who missed his first game of the season in the win over the Nash, along with Dayle Southwell and Elliott Reeves.
Southport`s win over Guiseley on Tuesday night, their sixth in their last eight games saw the Reds drop out the play-offs but a win could see them reclaim it if results go their way ahead of the rematch with Curzon Ashton in the FA Trophy on the 18th of December.
The game will see the two sides meet for the first time in 682 days when the Reds blew the tigers away at the Impact Arena in the first game since the tragic passing of former Alfreton player Jordan Sinnott, when a Danny Elliott hat trick inspired the Reds to a resounding 6-1 victory way back in January 2020!
After topping the table at the curtailment of the 2020/21 season, its been a totally different story this season for the visitors with their 2-0 victory over Spennymoor Town in their last outing only their third of the season in 16 games to date.
The Reds will need to be wary of the threat of Gloucester striker Ollie Hulbert who has an impressive 9 goals in 8 appearances since he signed on loan from Bristol Rovers back in October.
