Alfreton Town locked horns with Spennymoor for the third time this season with the County Durham side gaining a measure of revenge for a defeat to the Reds in the FA Cup as they advanced to the next round of the Isuzu FA Trophy.
Billy Heath made one change from the last outing with Jake Askew replacing a suspended George Willis in goal.
Its the visiting Moors who made the better start to proceedings as both sides were looking to advance of the Fourth Round of the FA Trophy.
With 18 minutes on the clock the first real chance of the contest fell to Graeme Lee`s men. The dangerous Isaac Fletcher beat Alfreton defender Dwayne Wiley to the ball before skipping in to the area but to Alfreton`s relief his shot could only find the side netting.
Spennymoor continued to threaten and Reds defender Max Hunt had to be at his brilliant best to time a block tackle in the box to perfection on 24 minutes.
It was Hunt who has had a stellar season since his summer move from Buxton who was at the centre of the action on 33 minutes but this time for the wrong reasons as his slip at the back allowed the ever dangerous Fletcher to fire a rasping shot towards goal which cannoned off the bar.
With 10 minutes to play in the First half Alfreton began to make inroads First they won their first corner which was dealt with by Moors before Jake Day engineered space in the area to fire towards goal but his effort was charged down.
Alfreton best and clearest sight of goal came in first half injury time when Liam Waldock who had struck the winner when the two sides had met earlier in the season in the FA Cup let fly towards goal from insides the area - his accurate shot forcing a tremendous save on the stretch from Moors keeper Brad James as both sides went in level at the break
Alfreton made a strong and purposeful start to the second half with Waldock engineering another good shooting opportunity which had James scrambling but was off target.
With 55 minutes on the watch the referee took centre stage with what can only be described as a scarcely believable and incredious decision. After Fewster had been unceremoniously upended, Referee Mr Daniel England showed a Red Card to Adam Lund for the off the ball incident inside the area.
Alfreton battled with real bravery and grit for the rest of the second half as Spennymoor began to dominate against the 10 men of the Reds.
Jake Askew, standing in for the suspended George Willis began a series of superb saves that without doubt kept Alfreton in the game as he arguably enjoyed his best ever performance in an Ofton shirt.
First he denied Rob ramshaw with a superb reaction save on 61 minutes
With 15 minutes to play Askew clawed away a Glen Taylor head from a wide Matty Dolan delivery in another awesome piece of goalkeeping.
He wasnt done there as on 83 minutes he rushed across his goal line to save a long range from a long range effort from Ramshaw.
However his and Alfreton`s heroic resistance was breached with four minutes of the 90 to play as Matty Dolan scored direct from a freekick to hand Spennymoor a decisive advantage.
Alfreton battled gamely to end but it was Spennymoor who won through to the next round and enacted a measure of revenge for the FA Cup defeat earlier in the season
