REDS LOOK TO DOWN EFL SADDLERS IN FRONT OF THE BBC CAMERAS! ITS THE BIG ONE!

Alfreton Town look to continue their sensational Fa Cup adventure for season 2023/24 as they target the scalp of an EFL side for the first time in the clubs history as Walsall visit the Impact Arena for an eagerly anticipated fixture in front of the watching glare of the BBC Sport Cameras.

It promises to be a huge occasion for everyone at the club and potentially an opportunity for Billy Heath`s men to put the club on the football map.

Since the sensational win over Worthing in the First Round Proper Proper to set up the tie, the Reds have found a relentless league schedule tough. Coming up against a difficult set of fixtures each providing a stern test in different ways the Reds are 5 league matches without a win and sit in 9th position in the National League North going into the clash.
In a pre match press conference on Thursday afternoon Reds manager Billy Heath confirmed top marksman Thewlis is a doubt for the clash but will be working as hard as possible to make himself available. Second top scorer Lewis Salmon who has been out of action since picking up a knock in the early stages of the draw with Warrington Town on the 7th of October was confirmed by Heath to be back to fitness but he lacks match sharpness after being out of action for such a length of time.
This is the third occasion Alfreton have made it as far as the second round of the Emirates Fa Cup. In the 2008/09 season after a 4-2 win over Bury Town at the Impact Arena the Reds travelled to high flying League One side Scunthorpe United and lost 4-0.
In 2012/13 still under the management of the excellent Nicky Law Alfreton were 4-2 victors against fellow Conference side Wrexham at the Racecourse Ground before they came face to face with another League One outfit in Leyton Orient with the match chosen for broadcast live on ESPN. The Reds put in a performance to be proud of with goals from Paul Clayton and Josh Law giving Alfreton a fighting chance before Leyton Orient`s quality shone through with lady luck not on Alfreton`s side on that day.
Billy Heath and the management team may look upon this fixture however as Alfreton`s best chance yet to get in the hat for the Third Round Proper.
Walsall are in crisis. Their only win in their last 8 outings was a 4-1 victory in the First Round against lowly Sheppey United. The Saddlers have been in freefall in the league and crashed a 2-0 away defeat at Barrow on Tuesday which stretched their winless run in League 2 to six matches with Mat Sadlers side having the worst form in the whole division over the last 8 matches. Simmering discontent at the trajectory of the club has threatened to boil over in some quarters with Sadler coming under increasing pressure from all sides over his future in his first job of his coaching career will be desperate for a victory to ease the pressure somewhat on Saturday

However Billy Heath`s men will be sure to make life for the visitors as this hard working and courageous Alfreton squad look to write themselves in to the history books with the nation watching. COME ON YOU REDS!!!

Parking at the Impact Arena is incredibly limited. We recommend
the pay and display parking on Rogers Lane, DE55 7FF and also at Severn Square, DE55 7BT - both are a five to ten minute walk to and from the Impact Arena.

Please be considerate of residents on the estate next to the arena, particularly Connaught Court, Bentley Close and North Street. We ask supporters to avoid parking in the residential areas around the ground and instead ask that you follow the advice and park in the pay and display car parks
