Alfreton Town are ecstatic to announce the capture of highly regarded attacking midfielder Sam Osborne following the termination of his contract at National League Boston United. Osborne has put pen to paper with the Reds until the end of the 2025/26 season.
Osborne, 26 will be no stranger to an avid follower of the National League North having represented Leamington, AFC Fylde and Derbyshire rivals Buxton with distinction in the division
Osborne started his football journey at Dunkirk before he enjoyed a four year stint at Notts County. While at the Magpies Osborne won 2 player of the month awards but had to be patient for consistent first team opportunities. Following Notts County`s relegation to the National League Osborne became more of a regular, scoring his first goal for the club against Boreham Wood which won goal of the month.
Despite being offered a new contract at Meadow Lane Osborne elected to look for first time opportunities elsewhere.
Osborne then signed for National League North club Leamington scoring his two goals for his new employers against the Reds on a evening to forget for Billy Heath`s side during the behind closed doors season of 2020/21, on a night when current Ofton fans favourite Jake Day was on target for Alfreton
In January 2022 promotion chasing AFC Fylde swooped for Osborne`s signature for an undisclosed fee. Osborne once again won a player of the month award and helped AFC Fylde secure a place in the top three.
Osborne increased his National League North experience further with a fruitful spell at local rivals Buxton where he scored 12 goals in 41 appearances.
Most recently Osborne has been plying his trade at newly promoted Boston United who had defeated the Reds in last years play off competition,
While Boston has struggled in the league above Osborne has scored 5 goals in 26 appearances in a struggling side. Following the sacking of Ian Culverhouse in October Osborne had found opportunities more infrequent under new boss Graham Coughlan.
Please extend a huge Ofton welcome to Sam Reds!
