Ahead of kick-off today against Bradford (Park Avenue) Billy Heath has been busy in the transfer market in an effort to strengthen his squad.
The first new recruit is a familiar face back for a second spell with the Reds. Young defender Danny Preston, 21, who was recently released by the Nottingham Forest Under 23s, enjoyed a fruitful loan spell with Alfreton in the 2019/20 season which saw him make 8 appearances including a man of the match display on debut in a 3-1 defeat at Gateshead.
In September 2020 Preston was loaned out once more by Forest to Grimsby where he made 29 appearances in the EFL before being recalled in February of this year.
More recently free agent Preston was on trial at League Two leaders Forest Green Rovers but he was not offered a deal.
Our second new signing is young 19 year old left footed pacy winger Luca Chadli who was at the Scunthorpe United academy from age 8 to 18 until he was released earlier this year. Chadli is half English and half Algerian and has ambitions of representing the Algerian national team in future.
